As the gubernatorial and state House Assembly elections are approaching, the support for Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna is increasing – Governor El-Rufai’s wife, Hajiya Ummi El-Rufa’i, urged All Progressives Congress (APC) women in the state to vote for her husband – Hajiya also thanked women for the massive support given to President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, February 23, during the election The wife of Kaduna state governor, Hajiya Ummi El-Rufa’i, on Wednesday, March 6, urged on women in the state to vote for her husband and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming elections. El-Rufai made the plea in an interview with newsmen during the grand finale of the ‘APC GIDA-GIDA’, meaning APC house-house campaign in Kaduna, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

She also pleaded with women and other voters to come out en masse and vote for Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Saturday, March 9. ‘‘We are requesting for higher turnout and higher votes so that he can return to his seat by the grace of God,” she pleaded. El-Rufai expressed hope that huge turnout of voters would translate into massive votes for the APC candidates on Saturday during governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

Also, Hajiya thanked women for the massive support given to President Buhari on February 23 during the election, which he latter won. ‘‘We want you to know that we are indeed very grateful and will forever be grateful. We also want to call on you (women) to come out en masse as you did during election of the President so as to show support for Nasir El-Rufai’s reform programmes,” she said.

She also appealed to the good people of Kaduna to remain calm and shun all acts of violence before, during and after the elections. Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that not less than 32 gubernatorial candidates in Kaduna, under the umbrella of Kaduna State Progressive Governorship Candidates Forum have jointly exited the gubernatorial race for El-Rufai. The 32 candidates alongside 49 political parties on Monday, March 4, endorsed Governor El-rufai as their consensus candidate.
