A member of the organising committee who pleaded for anonymity told the Sunday Tribune that the meeting is expected to take place Sunday, July 8, and it will be chaired by a senator. “We are in Kaduna to tell the world that we remain bona fade members of the ruling party (APC). Also, to drum our support to Buhari /Osibanjo joint ticket.

He said, the president is from the zone and the North West lawmakers are solidly behind him. “We are not saying that we don’t have disgruntled elements among us but I can’t assure you that those that will be coming for the solidarity meeting from the zone are in the majority,” he added. It was gathered that lawmakers from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Jigawa will be attending the crucial meeting. Galadima who claimed they are the real APC members, accused the Buhari-led government of failing to fulfil its promises. He asked the president to give way for a more serious candidate that will salvage the country from its recent predicament. In an earlier report by NAIJ.com, the newly launched Reformed All Progressives Congress(R-APC) was said to have secured the buy-in of 30 senators and 60 members of the House of Representatives. Members of the R-APC were said to have kick-started moves aimed at ensuring their defection to the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a matter of weeks. According to report, all the processes leading to the mass defection will be concluded a week before lawmakers embark on their annual recess on July 21.
